From 2016 to 2020 he remained one of the most prominent young critics of Peter Mutharika’s regime. He has been featured on the same across all media houses in Malawi.

This year through Citizens for Progressive Action, Pemphero Mphande is leading protests against alleged racism towards black people from certain institutions. On the 6th of October, 2020 he issued a statement on the same regarding a case at Mpingwe Sports Club.
